A customer located on the Ohio River sought PMI’s help to improve their barge loading system, which was reliant on trucks to transport material to barges. PMI engineered, manufactured, and installed a 3,000-foot conveyor system that streamlined the process, eliminating the need for trucks and significantly increasing efficiency. The new system, which also included a loadout system adaptable to river elevation, increased the customer’s loading capacity from 55 to 80 barges, equating to 144,000 tons of material per week. This innovation not only improved operational efficiency but also reduced costs and environmental impact.
